Martindale is a test that indicates how abrasion-resistant a fabric is: how well the fabric withstands friction. The higher the value, the better the fabric is suited for intensive use.
For the easiest maintenance, Tonal or Ultra are generally the best choices.
For intensive use, Capture and Select are particularly strong choices, both with 200,000 Martindale. Tonal, Re-wool, Hallingdal 65 and Vidar are also very suitable for daily and professional use, with 100,000 Martindale.
For a lively or distinctive look, Capture, Re-wool, Technicolour and Vidar are good choices.
Within the Varier collection, there are several sustainable choices. Tonal is made from 100% recycled post-consumer polyester. Re-wool contains recycled wool. In addition, fabrics such as Capture, Select, Technicolour, Hallingdal 65 and Vidar have sustainability certifications such as EU Ecolabel and/or other environmental certifications.
Every fabric and leather type can discolour over time due to direct sunlight. It is therefore better not to place the chair in strong direct sunlight for extended periods. Dunes is intentionally designed to develop a natural patina through light and use, while Ultra is more resistant to visible ageing thanks to its protective finish.
